As part of the Applied Sciences team, you will help them achieve this goal by translating cutting edge research into their digital health products and services to support their members globally.


You will be working alongside Applied Scientists in the development of cutting-edge research AI/ML solutions, leading on technical implementation and architecture, including proof-of-concepts, prototypes and research tooling.

Accelerate the integration of state-of-the-art research into their products, representing the Applied Science team in the transition of knowledge and assets to product engineering teams (e.g. MLOps & data engineering).

Develop compelling prototypes to demonstrate to commercial and product stakeholders how their research can push the boundaries of what their next-generation products and services can provide.


The success of this role will be measured by their ability to leverage multiple data sources to develop research prototypes that form the basis of future products. By optimising and supporting the integration of new AI models and algorithms into their digital healthcare platforms, you will be contributing towards supporting the highest standard of care for millions of members globally. 

You will provide engineering and systems focussed guidance to the wider Applied Science team, which includes scientists and engineers across AI and data science as well as epidemiologists, health economists and other disciplines. The role will also require significant collaboration with other technology, clinical, product and regulatory teams to ensure that their latest developments are leveraged within their products and service.


    • Masters degree in technical discipline, e.g. computer science, physics, maths and 5+ years of industrial engineering experience

    • Broad knowledge of relevant AI/ML techniques and frameworks and strong mathematical ability to deeply understand state-of-the-art work.

    • Expert in Python and data science / ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, PyMC3, Pyro, Stan, etc.)

    • Ability to optimise research code (e.g. implementing vectorisation or low-memory techniques)

    • Knowledge of developments in experimental platforms and frameworks from across the field.

    • Able to explain and articulate technical and scientific ideas in written and verbal formats (including presentations). 

Nice to have

    • Experience in Causal Modelling, Bayesian inference or Reinforcement Learning

    • Experience with development and deployment of production software

    • Experience of front-end / full-stack development (including for prototypes and demos)

    • Relevant publications in ML / AI / computer science, including conferences (such as NeurIPS, ICML and ICLR), journals and workshops
